A Brand New Instagram Profile

Moon Art - Moon Seed of life, spacyway, Zach Cooley Photo

All photos in today’s blog post are done with no Photoshop, rather they were created in-camera using multiple exposure mode. This one creates the sacred geometry referred to as “Seed of Life”, and is a septuple exposure image, each exposure with the following settings: 550mm 🔹 F/8 🔹 1/125 sec. 🔹 ISO 125.

Why am I creating a new Profile?
As I’ve continued on my personal journey with photography, I’ve really been liking the idea of trying various techniques, getting more creative, and not having any limits to what I produce.  Just letting the creation process unfold naturally without any boundaries is how art should be.  That said, with the label of “Photographer”, I’ve felt limited in what I create and share on my Zach Cooley Photo page, and it wouldn’t seem right to me if I started posting art aside from photography on my profile that has always been for that. This new profile will be more artsy creations, and the images will fall outside the realm of “Here’s a picture I took”, and that’s the primary reason for having a separate profile.  My Zach Cooley Photo profile has been and will continue to be focused on rawer photography.

What should we expect on the new profile?
Just like Zach Cooley Photo, you can expect landscape and nature images, with a heavy dose of moon stuff.  I’ll still be using my photography as a starting medium, so it will generally be what I would call “Photo Art”.  There will be plenty of camera tricks, such as in-camera multiple exposures (like all the images you see in this blog post), but I’ll also be learning more Photoshop, so that could include various composite images and\or AI elements. I’ll always be happy to answer any questions about my process in creating images.

Where does “Spacyway” come from?
I thought you’d never ask!  Actually, I guess that was me asking…well, I’m glad I asked.  The name is derived from a childhood nickname that my family assigned me, “Space”.  That was for my tendency to “Space out” fairly often, and if we’re honest, I still do.  It wasn’t uncommon for my dad to have to get me to come back to reality with a, “Hello!? Earth to Zach!”, because my mind would be off on a different planet.  At a very young age, I started using “Spacyway” for my username on various websites, and even my first ever email address.  When I first created an Instagram account, it was actually also “spacyway”, but when I finally actually started using the platform and sharing photography in 2019 I changed it to Zach Cooley Photo.
